As the Catholic World Turns - A Soap Opera Update

Missed what's going on with non-liberal Catholics these days? Let me fill you in.

Mike from RTF and Michael Voris had a fallout. It has to do with the fundraising of a private investigator in the accused Fr. Jackson ordeal. However, Voris is still friendly with Timothy Gordon, thanks in large part to Timothy's brother working for Church Militant.

Church Militant/Voris is also still on good terms with Patrick Coffin. But Coffin reiterated last week that he's most definitely anti-Taylor Marshall. Marshall had tried to stay close to Voris, but things went sour after the SSPX thing blew up.

Marshall, known for his public Easter Sunday fallout with Timothy Gordon, was also getting it from Mike from RTF a while back. I'm not sure how that's going. However, Mike from RTF is trying to break into the 1P5 crowd of late.

Meanwhile, the former 1P5 chief, Steve Skojec, has taken a break from it all, after having had it out with almost everyone else, save maybe Timothy Gordon.

Speaking of Gordon, he recently was going after Peter Kwasniewski. So too was a young upstart named Michael Lofton. Kwasniewski however shrugged his shoulders and continues his writing for 1P5. However, another writer at 1P5 has been helping out Lofton recently, potentially indicating internal strife.

I haven't even mentioned Fr. Z, John Henry Westen, or Matt Gaspars. And don't get me started on the reaction to Michael Matt's attempt to "unite the clans"...

Oh! Breaking news! Voris is suing Mike from RTF now! Get out your popcorn. Get out your wallets, too, and donate to your favourite side.

Look, there are some jerks mentioned above. There are also some great people as well. Kwasniewski is a gem. So too Eric Sammons. Heck, John Henry Westen was at my wedding! But the long story short is, and I've said it for some time now, it will take a few lawsuits before many of the jerks start acting with basic human decency. It apparently has started.

As for the rest of us, we need to do our duty of the moment. Lord knows it's hard enough to do even simple things these days.

  1. For me, all of these people fall into two categories: 1) people I've only vaguely heard of, and 2) people who have told me to drop dead at one time or another. So, my take on this: Once they get to know me, most people tell me to drop dead. I'm glad I don't know that many people.

  2. Tried and true: "23 So if you are offering your gift at the altar, and there remember that your brother has something against you, 24 leave your gift there before the altar and go; first be reconciled to your brother, and then come and offer your gift. 25 Make friends quickly with your accuser, while you are going with him to court, lest your accuser hand you over to the judge, and the judge to the guard, and you be put in prison; 26 truly, I say to you, you will never get out till you have paid the last penny." Matthew 5: 23-26, RSV CE
